Precision Sculptra Treatments
Sculptra®
Designed for Results That Arrive Gradually
Some results are better when they arrive slowly. Sculptra® works differently from most injectables. Rather than filling an area, it prompts your skin to rebuild its own collagen over a period of months, so fullness returns the way it left, gradually and quietly. People notice that you look well. They rarely work out why.
At Revive Clinic & IV Therapy, Sculptra is planned across a series rather than delivered in a single visit, because collagen is built on your body’s timeline and not a treatment schedule. Your provider maps where support has softened across your whole face, then treats in stages so the change stays balanced as it develops.
Our Middleburg office serves patients from across western Loudoun County and the surrounding hunt country, including Aldie, Upperville, The Plains, Philomont, Purcellville, Marshall, and Leesburg. Revive is a fee-for-service practice offering both clinical care and aesthetic medicine, so your treatment is planned by a provider who takes your broader health history into account.
Your first appointment is simply a conversation. Your provider will look closely at your face, listen to what you would like to change, and walk you through what Sculptra can do for it. You will leave with a clear plan, a realistic picture of your results, and no pressure to schedule anything that day.

What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra® is an injectable collagen stimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid, a material that has been used in medicine for decades in dissolvable sutures and other applications. It is not a filler in the usual sense. It does not sit in your face providing volume. It works by prompting your own body to make more collagen.
Collagen is the protein that gives your skin thickness, firmness, and the smooth fullness that reads as youth. Production begins to decline in your twenties and continues declining year over year. As it thins, skin loses its cushioning, cheeks flatten, temples soften, and the face gradually loses the scaffolding that held its shape.
When Sculptra is placed beneath the skin, your body responds to the material by producing new collagen around it over the following weeks and months. The material itself is gradually absorbed. What remains is collagen your own body built, which is why the result feels like your face rather than like something added to it.
That mechanism is also why Sculptra takes time. Nothing dramatic happens the day you leave. Fullness develops over several months as collagen forms, and it continues developing after your final session. For patients who want change without a noticeable before and after, that gradual arrival is the entire appeal.
The goal is not to fill your face. It is to rebuild the collagen framework your face has been losing, so the structure comes back from underneath
What Concerns Can Sculptra Address?
- Flattening or hollowing across the cheeks
- Hollowing at the temples
- Loss of overall facial fullness
- Softening along the jawline
- Folds beside the mouth, supported from above
- Lines from the corners of the mouth toward the chin
- Thin or crepey skin quality on the face
- Skin laxity in the décolletage
- Volume loss on the hands
- Generalized loss of firmness that no single area explains
Sculptra suits patients whose concern is widespread rather than localized. If what bothers you is one specific fold or a lip that needs definition, your provider may recommend a different approach that works immediately and precisely.
Treatment Areas
- Cheeks and midface The most commonly treated area, where rebuilding collagen restores the support that lifts the entire lower face.
- Temples Softening here is subtle and affects how rested the whole face looks. Sculptra suits this area particularly well.
- Jawline Builds firmness along the border between face and neck.
- Lower face Provides support beside the mouth and toward the chin, improving folds by rebuilding the structure above them.
- Décolletage Improves skin thickness and firmness in the chest, an area where collagen loss shows early.
- Hands Restores fullness and improves skin quality on the back of the hands.
Sculptra is not used in the lips. Its mechanism and the movement of that area make it unsuitable, and your provider will recommend a different product if lips are part of your goal.
Benefits of Sculptra
- Stimulates your own collagen rather than adding volume directly
- Results develop gradually, which keeps the change discreet
- Improves overall skin thickness and firmness, not only contour
- Treats widespread volume loss across multiple areas
- Effects can last two years or more in many patients
- Non-surgical, with no incisions and no general anesthesia
- Sessions generally take 30 to 60 minutes
- Most patients return to normal activity the same day
- Works alongside treatments that address movement lines and skin surface
What Patients Often Notice
- Cheeks that look fuller and better supported
- Temples that no longer read as hollow
- Firmer, thicker-feeling skin across the face
- Folds that soften as the structure above them rebuilds
- A jawline with more definition
- An overall impression of health rather than of treatment
Results vary. Sculptra depends on your body’s own capacity to produce collagen, and that capacity differs between people and declines with age. Skin thickness, degree of volume loss, general health, and how many sessions you complete all affect the outcome. Some patients see substantial change across a series. Some see gradual, subtle improvement. Because the effect builds over months, the result is best judged well after your final session rather than between appointments.
Treatment Timeline
- Session length Most appointments run 30 to 60 minutes.
- Immediately after You may look slightly fuller for a day or two from the fluid the product is mixed with. This settles and is not your result.
- Early weeks Little visible change. Collagen formation is underway beneath the surface before it becomes visible.
- First visible change Most patients begin noticing improvement around six to eight weeks after their first session.
- Series Most treatment plans involve two to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on how much volume has been lost.
- Full result Development continues for three to six months after your final session.
- Duration Results commonly last two years or more, since what you are seeing is collagen your own body produced.
- Maintenance Many patients return for a single session every year or two to keep pace with ongoing collagen decline.
What Happens During Your Visit
- Consultation
Your provider assesses your face as a whole, looking at proportion, where fullness has softened, skin thickness and quality, and how your features balance in profile. They review your medical history, medications and supplements, allergies, and any prior injectable treatment.
Because Sculptra develops over months, planning matters more here than with treatments you can assess on the spot. You and your provider will agree on how many sessions to anticipate, what the schedule looks like, and what the full course will cost before anything begins.
- Preparation
Sculptra is prepared in advance, as the product is mixed with sterile fluid and left to sit before use. The treatment area is cleansed and disinfected. Topical numbing is available, and the product itself is commonly mixed with lidocaine for comfort.
- Treatment
Your provider injects Sculptra beneath the skin using a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, depending on the area. Product is placed in small amounts across the treatment area rather than concentrated in one spot, since the objective is even collagen stimulation across a broad region.
Your provider may massage the area during treatment to distribute product evenly. Most patients describe pressure and brief stinging.
- Aftercare Guidance
Your provider will give you a specific massage schedule to follow at home for several days after treatment. This is worth doing exactly as directed. Massaging the treated areas helps the product distribute evenly, and patients who follow the schedule tend to be happiest with how their results develop.
Expect mild swelling and possible bruising for a few days. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, hot tubs, and saunas for 24 hours. Use broad-spectrum sun protection daily.
You will receive written aftercare instructions at your appointment, including your massage schedule and guidance on when to call. Contact Revive Clinic & IV Therapy if anything concerns you in the days following treatment.
How Much Does Sculptra Cost?
Pricing depends on how many vials your treatment requires and how many sessions your plan includes, which varies with the degree of volume loss and the number of areas being treated.
Because Sculptra is a series rather than a single appointment, Revive Clinic & IV Therapy discusses the full plan and its cost during your consultation, so you can decide with the whole picture in front of you. You will know what is recommended and what it costs before any treatment is performed, and you are free to decline.
Your first consultation is complimentary for new patients.
First Time Considering Hormone Optimization?
The most useful thing to understand about Sculptra is that patience is part of the treatment. You will not walk out looking different, and for the first several weeks you may wonder whether anything is happening at all. Collagen is forming during that time, below where you can see it.
Patients who love Sculptra tend to be the ones who wanted change without an event. Friends notice that you look rested, well, better somehow, without connecting it to an appointment. That gradual arrival is not a limitation of the treatment. For many people it is the reason to choose it.
Sculptra also works best as a series. A single session produces some collagen response, but the treatment is designed as a course, and the result you are picturing is the result of the full plan.
At your consultation your provider will assess where your face has lost support, discuss what you want to change, explain how many sessions your goals are likely to need, and give you a realistic picture of the timeline, the result, and the cost from beginning to end.
Maintaining Your Results
Collagen production continues to decline with age, so the framework Sculptra helped you build will gradually soften again. Most patients maintain their results with a single session every year or two, well before the change becomes noticeable.
Treating from a maintained base is easier than rebuilding, and it keeps your appearance consistent rather than cycling between fuller and flatter.
What you do between sessions supports the result. Daily broad-spectrum sun protection protects the collagen you built. Stable weight, good nutrition, and not smoking all affect your body’s capacity to produce collagen, which is the engine this treatment depends on.
Many patients pair Sculptra maintenance with treatments that address skin surface and movement lines, which your provider will discuss as part of a longer plan.
Why Choose Revive Clinic & IV Therapy?
Revive Clinic & IV Therapy is a nurse-practitioner-led practice. Dr. Gurpreet Bajwa, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who spent more than a decade in urgent care in Ashburn before founding Revive, and who has worked closely with dermatology, endocrinology, and internal medicine. Dr. Bajwa holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and practices under a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, as Virginia requires.
Sculptra rewards planning. Because results develop over months and across several sessions, the quality of the outcome depends heavily on how well the full course was mapped at the start, how evenly product is distributed, and how carefully the plan is adjusted as collagen develops.
Treatment here is planned as a course with a defined endpoint. You will know at the outset how many sessions to expect and what the whole plan costs, and your provider will reassess as your results build rather than repeating the same treatment on a schedule.
We are not trying to give you a face you have never had. We are rebuilding the framework underneath the one you already have.
Enhance Your Experience
Sculptra rebuilds collagen across broad areas. Patients working toward a complete result often combine it with treatments that address different concerns.
- Dermal fillers for precise contour and definition, and for areas Sculptra does not treat
- Neuromodulators for lines created by muscle movement
- Microneedling for skin texture, pore appearance, and scarring
- RF microneedling where skin laxity accompanies volume loss
Each recommendation is made individually during your consultation. Not every service is appropriate for every patient, some cannot be performed on the same day as Sculptra, and results vary. Your provider will advise on sequencing and timing.
Let's Talk About the Result You Want
You probably know the version of yourself you are hoping to see. Cheeks with their fullness back. A face that looks rested in candid photographs, not only in the ones you approve. Skin that feels thicker and firmer under your own hand. Or simply looking the way you feel on a good week, all the time.
Bring that to your consultation and describe it plainly. The clearer you are about the result you want, the more precisely your provider can plan the course for it, and the better they can tell you how many sessions it will take and when you will start seeing it. Sculptra rewards patients who commit to the full plan and let collagen do its work on its own schedule.
Your first consultation is complimentary. You will leave knowing what is achievable for your face, how long it will take, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sculptra?
Sculptra® is an injectable collagen stimulator made from poly-L-lactic acid. Rather than adding volume directly, it prompts your body to produce new collagen over the following weeks and months. The material is gradually absorbed, and what remains is collagen your own body built.
How is Sculptra different from a dermal filler?
Filler adds volume immediately and you see the result the same day. Sculptra works gradually, stimulating collagen so fullness develops over months. Filler is precise and immediate. Sculptra is broad and gradual. Many patients use both for different areas and different goals.
How soon will I see results?
Most patients begin noticing change around six to eight weeks after the first session. Results continue developing for three to six months after the final session.
How many sessions will I need?
Most plans involve two to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, depending on how much volume has been lost. Your provider will give you an estimate after assessing your face.
How long do results last?
Commonly two years or more, since the fullness comes from collagen your own body produced.
Does it hurt?
The product is typically mixed with lidocaine, and topical numbing is available. Most patients describe pressure and brief stinging rather than pain.
Is there downtime?
Most patients return to normal activity the same day. Mild swelling and possible bruising last a few days.
Why do I have to massage the area afterward?
Massage helps the product distribute evenly through the treated area while collagen begins forming. Your provider will give you a specific schedule, and following it closely supports the quality of your result.
Can Sculptra be used in the lips?
No. Sculptra is not used in the lips. Your provider will recommend a different product if lip enhancement is part of your goal.
Can I have Sculptra if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Am I a good candidate?
That depends on the degree and pattern of volume loss, your skin quality, your medical history, and what you want to change. Sculptra suits widespread volume loss better than a single localized concern. Your consultation exists to answer this question honestly.
Who is not a candidate?
Sculptra is not appropriate for individuals with active skin infection or inflammation at the intended injection site, known allergy to any component of the product, bleeding disorders, certain autoimmune or connective tissue conditions, a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring, or a tendency toward inflammatory nodule formation, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy requires specific discussion before treatment. Sculptra is not used in the lips, and treatment around the eyes carries an increased risk of nodule formation. Candidacy is determined only after individual evaluation by a qualified healthcare provider.
What are the risks?
Sculptra treatment is a medical procedure with associated risks. Common effects include swelling, bruising, pain, tenderness, redness, and itching at the injection site. Additional risks include the formation of subcutaneous nodules, papules, or lumps that may develop weeks or months after treatment and may be visible or palpable, granuloma formation, delayed inflammatory reactions, movement of product from the treated area, infection, abscess, allergic reaction, prolonged swelling, and changes in skin coloring. Rarely, injection into a blood vessel may cause tissue injury.
Following the massage schedule provided by your provider reduces the likelihood of nodule formation and affects both your result and your risk.
What results can I expect?
Results develop gradually over months and vary between individuals. The degree of improvement depends on your body’s own capacity to produce collagen, which differs between people and declines with age. No specific outcome, degree of improvement, duration of effect, or number of sessions required can be guaranteed.
