Precision Kybella Treatments
Kybella
Designed to Refine the Profile You Were Born With
A defined jawline changes how your whole face reads. It is also the one area that seems immune to everything you have tried, because fullness beneath the chin often has very little to do with your weight or your effort. Some people simply store fat there, and no amount of discipline moves it.
Kybella® treats that area directly. It is an injectable that reduces fat beneath the chin, and once those fat cells are gone, they do not come back. At Revive Clinic & IV Therapy, treatment is planned as a short course sized to what you actually have, so you have a clearer understanding of the recommended treatment plan and what you can realistically expect from treatment.
Our Middleburg office serves patients from across western Loudoun County and the surrounding hunt country, including Aldie, Upperville, The Plains, Philomont, Purcellville, Marshall, and Leesburg. Revive is a fee-for-service practice offering both clinical care and aesthetic medicine, so your treatment is planned by a provider who takes your broader health history into account.
Your first appointment is simply a conversation. Your provider will look at your profile, listen to what you would like to change, and walk you through what Kybella can do for it. You will leave with a clear plan, a realistic picture of what to expect, and no pressure to schedule anything that day.

What Is Kybella?
Kybella® is an injectable treatment for reducing fat beneath the chin, the area clinicians call the submental region. Its active ingredient is deoxycholic acid, a substance your body already produces and uses to break down dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath your chin, deoxycholic acid disrupts the membrane of the fat cells in that area. Those cells are then cleared by your body through its normal processes over the following weeks. This is the part patients find most compelling: the fat cells are destroyed rather than shrunk, so they cannot refill later. The result you build is a lasting one.
Kybella is the only injectable of its kind approved by the FDA for treating submental fullness, and it offers a path to a more defined profile that does not involve surgery, anesthesia, or a recovery period spent away from your life.
Kybella addresses fat. If firmness of the skin along your jaw and neck is also part of what you would like to improve, your provider can talk you through pairing it with a skin tightening treatment so both are handled in one plan.
The goal is not to change your face. It is to reveal the jawline that fullness beneath your chin has been covering.
What Concerns Can Kybella Address?
- Fullness beneath the chin
- A soft or undefined transition from chin to neck
- A profile that reads heavier than the rest of your fac
- Submental fullness that has not responded to diet or exercise
- Fullness under the chin that runs in your family
- A jawline that has lost its definition
- Discomfort about how you photograph in profile
Kybella is a good match for people who are close to their goal weight and have a discrete area of fullness beneath the chin. Your provider will confirm during your consultation that your fullness is fat rather than something else, since the treatment works on fat specifically.
Treatment Areas
- Beneath the chin The submental area is what Kybella is approved to treat and where the great majority of treatments are performed. Fat here sits in a defined pocket, which makes it well suited to a targeted injectable.
- The jawline transition Reducing submental fullness sharpens the line where your jaw meets your neck, which is often the change patients notice most in photographs.
Your provider will map the treatment area precisely and mark the injection grid before beginning, since the treatment is delivered across a defined zone rather than at a single point.

Results vary. The amount of fat present at the start, your skin quality, your age, your weight stability, and how many sessions you complete all affect the outcome. Most patients need two to four sessions to reach the profile they want, and some need more. Because the fat is cleared gradually by your body, the change builds between sessions rather than appearing all at once, and the full result is best judged several weeks after your final treatment.
Treatment Timeline
- Session length Most appointments run 15 to 30 minutes.
- Series Most treatment plans involve two to four sessions spaced at least four weeks apart. Some patients need more, and treatment can be given up to six times.
- Visible change Most patients begin seeing a difference after the second or third session, as the treated fat is cleared.
- Full result The complete effect is generally assessed six to eight weeks after your final session.
- Duration The treated fat cells are permanently gone. Maintaining your result depends on keeping your weight stable, since remaining fat cells in the area can still enlarge.
What Happens During Your Visit
- Consultation
Your provider examines the area beneath your chin, assessing how much fat is present, the quality and firmness of the skin over it, and how your profile balances with the rest of your face. They confirm that what you want treated is fat, since fullness in this area occasionally comes from other structures.
They review your medical history, medications and supplements, allergies, any prior treatment or surgery in the neck area, and your weight history.
You and your provider will agree on how many sessions to anticipate and what the full course will cost before anything begins.
- Preparation
The area is cleansed, and your provider marks a treatment grid on your skin. This grid maps exactly where each injection goes, and it is what allows the product to be distributed evenly across the fat pocket.
Ice or topical numbing is commonly used for comfort, and your provider may recommend an ice pack in advance.
- Treatment
Your provider delivers a series of small injections across the marked grid. Most patients describe stinging or burning that builds and then subsides over several minutes. The sensation is brief, and cold packs are available throughout.
The number of injections depends on the size of the area being treated. Because the product must be distributed evenly across the fat pocket, the grid pattern matters as much as the technique.
- Aftercare Guidance
Most patients return to work and normal activity right away. Avoid strenuous exercise for the first day or two.
Your provider will walk you through exactly what to expect afterward, and you will receive written aftercare instructions at your appointment, including day by day guidance and when to call. Contact Revive Clinic & IV Therapy if anything concerns you in the days following treatment.
How Much Does Kybella Cost?
Pricing depends on how much product each session requires and how many sessions your plan includes, both of which follow from the amount of fullness present at the start.
Because Kybella is a course rather than a single appointment, Revive Clinic & IV Therapy discusses the whole plan and its cost during your consultation, so you can decide with the full picture in front of you. You will know what is recommended and what it costs before any treatment is performed, and you are free to decline.
Your first consultation is complimentary for new patients.
First Time Considering Kybella?
The thing worth knowing before you book is that Kybella is a course rather than a single appointment. Most people need two to four sessions spaced about a month apart, so the profile you are picturing arrives over a few months rather than a few days.
What makes it worth that time is permanence. Fat cells that are cleared do not regenerate. Unlike treatments you repeat indefinitely, Kybella has a finish line, and once you reach it you are done.
At your consultation your provider will assess how much fullness you have, discuss the profile you are working toward, explain how many sessions your goals are likely to need, and give you a clear picture of the timeline and the cost from beginning to end.
Maintaining Your Results
The fat cells cleared by Kybella are permanently gone, which means your result does not fade the way most aesthetic treatments do. There is no maintenance schedule and no standing appointment.
What does matter is weight stability. Fat cells remaining in the area can still enlarge with significant weight gain, so keeping your weight in a steady range protects the profile you built.
Skin firmness along the jaw and neck continues to change with age independently of fat. Many patients pair their Kybella result with a skin tightening treatment at some point, either alongside their sessions or later, and your provider can talk you through how the two work together.
Why Choose Revive Clinic & IV Therapy?
Revive Clinic & IV Therapy is a nurse-practitioner-led practice. Dr. Gurpreet Bajwa, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who spent more than a decade in urgent care in Ashburn before founding Revive, and who has worked closely with dermatology, endocrinology, and internal medicine. Dr. Bajwa holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and practices under a collaborative practice agreement with a physician, as Virginia requires.
The area beneath the chin is anatomically busy, with important structures running close to where the product is placed. Precise mapping of the treatment grid and a thorough understanding of what lies beneath it are what allow the treatment to be delivered accurately.
Treatment here is planned as a course with a defined endpoint. You will know at the outset how many sessions to expect and what the whole plan costs, and your provider will reassess as your result develops rather than booking sessions on a standing schedule.
We are not going to sell you an open-ended package. We are going to tell you how many sessions your profile needs, and then finish.
Enhance Your Experience
Kybella reduces fat beneath the chin. Patients working toward a fully refined profile often combine it with treatments that address the skin above it
- RF microneedling for firmness along the jawline and neck
- RF skin tightening where skin quality is the main remaining concern
- Dermal fillers to improve chin projection and profile balance
- Neuromodulators for vertical bands in the neck
Each recommendation is made individually during your consultation. Not every service is appropriate for every patient, some cannot be performed on the same day as Kybella, and results vary. Your provider will advise on sequencing and timing.
Let's Talk About the Result You Want
You already know the photograph you want to like. The one taken from the side, or the candid someone else posted, or the video call where you catch your own image in the corner. A jawline that reads clearly. A profile that matches the face you see straight on.
Bring that to your consultation and say it plainly. The clearer you are about the result you want, the more precisely your provider can plan the course for it, and the better they can tell you how many sessions it will take and what your profile will look like at the end. Kybella rewards patients who commit to the full plan, because the finish line is permanent.
Your first consultation is complimentary. You will leave knowing what is achievable, how long it will take, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Kybella?
Kybella® is an injectable treatment that reduces fat beneath the chin. Its active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a substance your body already makes to break down dietary fat. Injected into the submental area, it disrupts fat cells, which your body then clears over the following weeks. It is the only injectable approved by the FDA for this purpose.
Are the results permanent?
The treated fat cells are destroyed and do not return. Your result is lasting as long as your weight stays reasonably stable, since remaining fat cells in the area can still enlarge with significant weight gain.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients need two to four sessions spaced at least four weeks apart. Some need more, and treatment may be given up to six times. Your provider will estimate after assessing the area.
Does it hurt?
Most patients describe stinging or burning that builds and then subsides over several minutes. Ice and topical numbing are used for comfort, and the sensation is brief.
How much swelling should I expect?
A meaningful amount. Swelling beneath the chin is expected, typically peaks within the first 24 to 72 hours, and improves over one to two weeks, though some fullness can persist for several weeks. Plan your first session accordingly.
When will I see results?
Most patients notice a change after the second or third session. The full result is generally assessed six to eight weeks after the final session.
Will Kybella tighten my skin?
No. Kybella reduces fat. Skin firmness is a separate concern, and your provider can discuss pairing treatment with a skin tightening option if that is part of your goal.
Can I have Kybella if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Am I a good candidate?
Kybella suits people at or near a stable weight who have a defined pocket of fullness beneath the chin. Your provider will confirm the fullness is fat and assess your skin quality during consultation
Who is not a candidate?
Kybella is not appropriate for individuals with an active infection at or near the treatment site, a history of difficulty swallowing, bleeding or clotting disorders, prior surgery or treatment in the area beneath the chin, or thyroid or lymph node abnormalities in the area, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is also not the right treatment where loose skin rather than fat is the primary concern, and reducing fat beneath the chin can make existing skin laxity more noticeable. Anticoagulant therapy requires specific discussion before treatment. Candidacy is determined only after individual evaluation by a qualified healthcare provider.
What are the risks?
Kybella treatment is a medical procedure with associated risks. Common effects include swelling, which may be pronounced, along with bruising, pain, numbness, redness, and firm areas beneath the skin. Additional risks include difficulty swallowing, injury to the marginal mandibular nerve causing an uneven smile or asymmetric facial movement, which is generally temporary but may take weeks to months to resolve, and ulceration, tissue damage, or tissue death at an injection site. Hair loss at the treatment site has been reported.
What results can I expect?
Results vary between individuals and depend on the amount of fat present, skin quality, age, and weight stability. Most patients require two to four sessions, and some require more. No specific outcome, degree of improvement, or number of sessions required can be guaranteed
