Dermal Fillers
Designed to Restore What Time Has Softened
Your face has always had structure. The gentle fullness across your cheekbones, the smooth line from cheek to jaw, the definition around your lips. Over time that structure softens, and what you see in the mirror starts reading flatter and more tired than you actually feel. Dermal fillers restore it.
At Revive Clinic & IV Therapy, filler is planned for your face as a whole. Your provider studies your proportions, your profile, and the way light falls across your features, then strategically places product to support balanced, natural-looking results. The result is a face that looks refreshed and unmistakably yours.
Our Middleburg office serves patients from across western Loudoun County and the surrounding hunt country, including Aldie, Upperville, The Plains, Philomont, Purcellville, Marshall, and Leesburg. Revive is a fee-for-service practice offering both clinical care and aesthetic medicine, so your treatment is planned by a provider who takes your broader health history into account.
Your first appointment is simply a conversation. Your provider will look closely at your face, listen to what you would like to change, and walk you through what filler can do for it. You will leave with a clear plan, a realistic picture of your results, and no pressure to schedule anything that day.

What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to restore volume, support facial structure, and soften lines that remain visible when your face is completely at rest. Most fillers used in aesthetic practice are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance your body already produces and uses to hold water in the skin and connective tissue.
Facial aging is not simply a skin story. Beneath the surface, fat pads that once sat high in the cheek shrink and shift downward, bone remodels and loses projection, and the scaffolding that held everything in position gradually stops holding. What you see as a fold beside your mouth or hollowing under your eye is usually the visible consequence of support that has been lost above it.
Filler replaces that support. Placed well, it does not add fullness to your face so much as return structure to where your face used to carry it. This is why a thoughtfully planned treatment tends to make people say you look rested rather than say you look different.
Hyaluronic acid fillers are also adjustable. Your provider can refine the result at a follow-up visit once everything has settled, which means your treatment is a conversation that continues rather than a single decision made in one afternoon.
The goal is not to fill lines. It is to restore the structure whose absence created them.
What Concerns Can Dermal Fillers Address?
- Flattening or hollowing in the cheeks
- Hollowing at the temples
- Folds running from the nose to the corners of the mouth
- Lines from the corners of the mouth toward the chin
- Loss of definition along the jawline
- A chin that reads short or recessed in profile
- Thinning lips or loss of lip border definition
- Vertical lines above the lip
- Hollowing beneath the eyes in appropriate candidates
- Volume loss in the hands
- Contour irregularities on the nose in appropriate candidates
Under-eye treatment deserves a specific note. The anatomy in this area is complex, the skin is thin, and the margin for error is small. It produces beautiful results in the right candidate and poor results in the wrong one. Your provider will tell you honestly which you are.
Treatment Areas
- Cheeks and midface Often the highest-value area to treat, because restoring support here improves the lower face as well.
- Temples Hollowing here is subtle and ages a face considerably. Treatment softens the transition from brow to hairline.
- Nasolabial folds The folds beside the mouth, frequently better improved by supporting the cheek above them than by filling the fold directly.
- Marionette lines and prejowl area Restores support along the lower face where descent shows first.
- Jawline Adds definition and sharpens the border between face and neck.
- Chin Improves profile balance and can bring proportion to the lower third of the face.
- Lips Adds volume, restores definition to the border, and softens vertical lines. Conservative treatment here looks natural. Overtreatment is the most recognizable result in all of aesthetics
- Under the eyes Treated with caution, in candidates whose anatomy suits it.
- Hands Restores volume that makes tendons and veins less prominent.
Benefits of Dermal Filler Treatment

What Patients Often Notice
- Cheeks that look supported rather than flat
- Softer folds beside the mouth without a filled or heavy appearance
- A jawline that reads more defined
- Improved balance in profile
- Lips that look like fuller versions of themselves rather than different lips
- An overall impression of looking rested
Results vary. Your facial structure, the degree of volume loss, skin thickness and quality, the product selected, the amount used, and how your tissue responds all affect the outcome. Some patients need very little. Some need more than they expected to see a meaningful change. Swelling in the first days can make the result look fuller than it will settle to, which is why your provider will ask you to wait about two weeks before judging it.
Treatment Timeline
- Treatment time
Most appointments run 30 to 60 minutes depending on the number of areas treated.
- Immediate result
You will see a change as soon as treatment is finished, though it will be accompanied by swelling.
- Swelling
Most pronounced in the first 24 to 72 hours, and more significant in the lips than elsewhere. Bruising, when it occurs, may last several days to a week.
- Settling
Product integrates with your tissue over about two weeks. This is when the result should be assessed.
- Follow-up
A review appointment at around two weeks allows small refinements if they are needed.
- Duration
Depends on the product and the area treated. Lips generally hold for six to twelve months. Cheeks, jawline, and chin often last twelve to eighteen months or longer. Areas that move constantly break product down faster.
- Maintenance
Most patients treat again as the result softens rather than waiting for it to disappear completely.
What Happens During Your Visit
- Consultation
Your provider assesses your face as a whole rather than only the area you mention. That means looking at proportion, symmetry, projection in profile, skin quality and thickness, and where volume has actually been lost. They review your medical history, medications and supplements, allergies, prior filler treatment including where and when and what was used, and any history of cold sores or adverse reactions.
Prior filler matters more than patients expect. Product placed years ago can persist longer than anticipated, and knowing what is already present changes the plan.
You will discuss what is realistic, what a natural result looks like for your particular face, and how much product it will take. Your provider will tell you if what you are asking for would not look the way you are imagining.
- Preparation
The treatment area is cleansed and disinfected thoroughly. Most fillers contain lidocaine, and topical numbing is available and commonly used, particularly for lips.
Tell your provider if you take blood thinners or anti-inflammatory medications, or have been drinking alcohol, as these increase bruising. If you have a history of cold sores, mention it, since treatment around the mouth can trigger an outbreak and preventive medication may be recommended.
- Treatment
Your provider injects filler using either a needle or a blunt-tipped cannula, chosen based on the area and the depth being treated. Product is placed in small amounts, layered and assessed as the treatment proceeds rather than delivered all at once.
Your provider may ask you to sit up, smile, or speak during treatment to check how the product sits when your face moves. Gentle massage is sometimes used to shape and smooth placement.
Technique here is not a matter of style. Placement depth, injection technique, and knowledge of where blood vessels run are what separate a good result from a complication, because the serious risks associated with filler come from product entering or compressing a vessel.
- Aftercare Guidance
Expect swelling, particularly in the first two to three days, and possible bruising and tenderness. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, hot tubs, and saunas for 24 to 48 hours. Avoid pressing, massaging, or manipulating the treated area unless your provider has specifically asked you to. Sleep on your back for the first night or two if you can. Avoid dental work for about two weeks where possible.
You will receive written aftercare instructions at your appointment, including guidance on what to watch for and when to call. Contact Revive Clinic & IV Therapy if anything concerns you in the days following treatment.
How Much Do Dermal Fillers Cost?
Pricing depends on which areas are treated and how much product your face actually requires, which varies widely. Restoring midface support in someone with significant volume loss is a different treatment from refining a lip border.
Revive Clinic & IV Therapy determines pricing during your consultation, once your provider has assessed what you need. You will know what is recommended and what it costs before any treatment is performed, and you are free to decline.
Your first consultation is complimentary for new patients.
First Time Considering Dermal Fillers?
The most natural results come from restoring structure across the face rather than filling one line at a time, and from building gradually. Starting conservatively is not a compromise. It is how beautiful results are made.
Product can always be added at your two-week follow-up, once everything has settled and you have had time to live with the change. And because hyaluronic acid filler is adjustable, your treatment stays a conversation rather than a single permanent decision.
At your consultation your provider will assess your facial structure and where volume has been lost, discuss what you want to change, explain which areas would most improve your overall balance, and give you a realistic picture of the result, the cost, and how long it will last. Many first-time patients treat one area rather than several.
Maintaining Your Results
Filler is gradually broken down by your body, at a rate that depends on the product, the area, and your own metabolism. Areas that move constantly, such as lips, break product down faster than areas that stay relatively still.
Most patients maintain their results by treating again as the effect begins to soften rather than waiting until it is entirely gone. Treating from a partially maintained base usually requires less product than rebuilding from nothing, and the appearance stays more consistent.
Volume loss also continues underneath. Your face at fifty is not losing volume in the same places it was losing it at forty, so a maintenance plan tends to evolve rather than repeat. Your provider will reassess rather than simply reproduce your last treatment.
Sun protection, not smoking, and stable weight all affect how long results hold and how your face ages around them.
Why Choose Revive Clinic & IV Therapy?
Revive Clinic & IV Therapy is a nurse-practitioner-led practice. Dr. Gurpreet Bajwa, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who spent more than a decade in urgent care in Ashburn before founding Revive, and who has worked closely with dermatology, endocrinology, and internal medicine. Filler rewards deep anatomical knowledge. Understanding facial structure in three dimensions, rather than simply where lines appear on the surface, is what allows a provider to place product precisely and produce a result that looks entirely natural.
Treatment here is planned for your whole face rather than sold by the syringe. Thoughtful placement, an honest conversation about what filler can do for you, and a follow-up appointment built into the plan are the standard.
We are not trying to give you a different face. We are putting structure back where your face has been quietly losing it.
Enhance Your Experience
Filler restores volume and structure. Patients working toward a broader change often combine it with treatments that address what volume alone does not.
- Neuromodulators for lines created by muscle movement, which filler does not address
- Microneedling for skin texture, pore appearance, and scarring
- RF microneedling where skin laxity accompanies volume loss
- Sculptra where gradual, widespread collagen stimulation suits your goals better than immediate volume
Each recommendation is made individually during your consultation. Not every service is appropriate for every patient, some cannot be performed on the same day as filler, and results vary. Your provider will advise on sequencing and timing.
Let's Talk About the Result You Want
You already know what you are hoping for, even if the words are hard to find. Cheeks that look supported again instead of flat. A jawline that shows up in photographs. Lips that look like yours did, only better rested. Or simply a face that stops reading as tired when you feel perfectly fine.
Bring that to your consultation and say it plainly. The clearer you are about the result you want, the more precisely your provider can plan for it, and the more honestly they can tell you what will get you there, what it will take, and what it will look like when it settles. Filler rewards patients who describe an outcome rather than requesting a syringe.
Your first consultation is complimentary. You will leave knowing what is achievable for your face, how long it will last, and what it will cost, before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectable gels, most commonly made from hyaluronic acid, used to restore volume and support facial structure. They address hollowing, folds, and loss of definition that come from the shifting and shrinking of fat, bone, and connective tissue beneath the skin, rather than from muscle movement or skin surface damage.
How is filler different from a neuromodulator?
They solve different problems. Neuromodulators relax muscles to soften lines created by movement, such as frown lines and forehead creases. Filler restores volume and structure that has been lost. Many patients benefit from both, treating different concerns.
Does it hurt?
Most fillers contain lidocaine, and topical numbing is available and commonly used, especially for lips. Most patients describe pressure more than pain. Lips are the most sensitive area.
How long do results last?
It depends on the product and the area. Lips generally hold six to twelve months. Cheeks, jawline, and chin often last twelve to eighteen months or longer. Areas that move constantly break filler down faster.
When will I look normal?
Swelling is most noticeable in the first 24 to 72 hours. Most patients feel presentable within a few days, though bruising can last up to a week. The final settled result is at about two weeks.
Is filler adjustable?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be refined, added to, or reversed, so your result is something you and your provider shape together rather than a single permanent decision.
Will I look overdone?
Not with conservative, structurally planned treatment. Overfilled results come from chasing individual lines with repeated product rather than restoring support across the face. Your provider will start conservatively and can add at follow-up.
Can I have filler under my eyes?
Sometimes. This area is anatomically complex, the skin is thin, and it is not appropriate for everyone. Your provider will assess whether your anatomy suits it and will tell you if it does not.
Can I have filler if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
What should I tell my provider before treatment?
Any prior filler and roughly when and where you had it, all medications and supplements including blood thinners, any history of cold sores, allergies, and any autoimmune conditions.
Am I a good candidate?
That depends on your facial structure, your medical history, medications, and what you want to change. Your consultation exists to answer this question honestly. Please review the medical disclaimer below for circumstances in which treatment is not appropriate.

The information on this page is provided for educational purposes and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It does not replace consultation with a qualified healthcare provider.
Who is not a candidate. Dermal filler treatment is not appropriate for individuals with active skin infection or inflammation at the intended injection site, an active cold sore outbreak, known allergy to any component of the product including lidocaine, bleeding disorders, or certain autoimmune conditions, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy requires specific discussion before treatment. A history of severe allergic reaction affects candidacy. Candidacy is determined only after individual evaluation by a qualified healthcare provider.
Risks. Dermal filler treatment is a medical procedure with associated risks. Common effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, redness, itching, firmness at the injection site, and temporary lumps or asymmetry. Additional risks include infection, abscess, formation of nodules or granulomas, delayed-onset inflammatory reactions that may occur weeks or months after treatment, allergic reaction, prolonged swelling, and product that is visible or palpable beneath the skin.
Serious but rare risks. Filler may be injected into or compress a blood vessel. This can interrupt blood supply to the surrounding tissue and may result in skin discoloration, tissue breakdown, tissue death and scarring, and very rarely permanent vision impairment, blindness, or stroke. The experience and anatomical knowledge of the injector substantially influence this risk but do not eliminate it.
Seek immediate medical attention for severe or increasing pain, skin that appears white, blotchy, or dusky, any visual disturbance, or any breakdown of the skin in or near the treated area.
Results. Results vary between individuals and depend on facial structure, degree of volume loss, product selected, and individual response. Duration varies by product, area treated, and metabolism. No specific outcome or duration of effect can be guaranteed.
